Are you kidding me?!

I was very excited to vote in november for Barack Obama but after some very STUPID comments on his part... I'm not so excited anymore. This doesn't mean I will vote for McCain but I'm not a big fan of people who bash Cubs fans. =]

If you missed it Barack said, "You go to Wrigley Field, you have a beer, beautiful people up there. People aren't watching the game. It's not serious. White Sox, that's baseball."

Yes, there are some fans out there that do that BUT SO DO THE WHITE SOX FANS! Are you freaking kidding me?? Is he really that blind?

Oh, and if Cubs fans weren't "serious" then why the (profane word) would we fill up every other teams stadiums!? Why would we use precious gas and money to go all the way to freaking california or pittsburgh to see a Cubs game?? I know fans who have gone to freaking Canada to watch a game!! And what about the fans that travel here to see a game from far away lands? I made it my mission this year to go to as many games as I can to catch my beloved team despite only making a camp counselors salary. No matter what, Cubs fans will show up because we care, because we're serious, for the love of the game.

Honestly, just don't take sides.

(I know this sounds childish but whatever... I don't care. I'm still going to vote for him but now I'm angry with him >:[)

As for the Cubs, they're playing GREAT baseball and have the best record in baseball. What more could you ask for? Oh wait, you could ask for the brewers to lose. A few more games between us and the brew crew would be comforting.

I am moving into college on friday and turns out one of my room mates is a Sox fan. She's super nice and is happy that we'll have a friendly rivalry. Annnnd we get WGN in Wisconsin =]

And I met Ryan Theriot!

DSCI0356.JPG

Not only is he possibly one of the nicest and down to earth men alive but he's hot =]

I've been watching him play baseball since his freshman year at LSU, needless to say, I'm a huge fan. It was like meeting your childhood hero. He's pretty much the reason I switched from 1st base to shortstop. One day I looked at my dad while watching an LSU game and said, "Dad, I wanna be like him... I wanna be a shortstop." And it went from there... I'm still playing shortstop and I'm glad I am. So here's to you Ryan - you rock.

Ya know, it's really great to see this team play. A different hero everyday really rounds the team. It's something special. Everyone says it so I'll spare you the speech. But this is a record breaking year... we just won our ninth series in a row which hasn't happened since 1097... a year we won the world series. Could history possibly be repeating itself? If it does, you'll see me in a tattoo shop adding "World Series Champs 2008" in October =]

And now I'm off to pack my room up. Wish me luck, haha.

GO CUBS!

sole possession.. again

SWEEP.

SWEEP.

SWEEP.

It's nice to finally get to say that again.

Sooooooooooooooo we SWEPT the Brewers. I was so tired of hearing "With Sheets and C.C. up, it's two automatic wins." Really? Obviously not.

Game 1: A battle. Ted Lilly was great. C.C. was good but not good enough to keep us from winning. I really wish we could've given him his first loss as a Brewer instead of a no decision but a win was nice. My heart physically started to hurt (I def saw the doctor the next day about that). I was going to give a "Hero of the Game" award to one of the players but I realized that I can't because there was contributions from everyone to win that game. DLee and Fonsy had great offemsive nights and the win in the top of the ninth was sweet.

Game 2: A blowout. Ben Sheets had only given up one run over 5... until the spectacular 6th inning. We scored 5 in the 6th to give us a 6 - 0 lead. DeRosa and Fu each plated two while Rammy, Big Z, and Fons all drove in one. Crazy stuff. Z struck out nine while he pitched eight scoreless innings with the phenom Samardzija coming in to wrap it up in the ninth.

Game 3: A riot. Haha, I had to use it. Ryan Theriot went 3 for 3, scoring a run, plating 3 RBIs, and 2 walks. People who read my blog on a more constant basis may have seen my love for the 5'11" bayou basher. I think his night at the plate was well worth mentioning. ;]  We won that night 7 - 2. It's nice to see the entire line up stepping up when the ever important 3 & 4 hitters go for a combined 0 - 9. Dempster kept the Brewers at one run over 7 beautiful innings of work. Gaudin has been spotless lately giving the Cubs an inning of relief and Cotts came in to close the game.

Game 4: The sweep. The home run ball helped us today. Edmonds gets the nod today with his 4th inning grand slam (that being his second home run of the game) to give the cubs a 5 - 0 lead. But don't forget it was Harden who struck out nine over 7 innings of work with only allowing one run to cross the plate. Fukudome and Soriano each hit a home run in the game (Fu's counted for two). The relief pitchers weren't spotless but that didn't take away Rich Harden's first win as a Chicago Cub.

Chad Gaudin has been pretty awesome lately. He's given up only one run in his last ten games and an 1.54 ERA. He was def masked when it came to the trade because of Harden but he has def has an impact on the team. He's a great addition and I'm happy to have him.

And Samardzija?? He may be the arm this bullpen needed. If he keeps up what he has shown us recently then I say KEEP HIM. When Woody comes back (if he ever freaking comes back from this stupid blister), it shouldn't be Samardzija to go down (and I believe Lou has said that). He's a great pitcher and I'm glad to see him join our crew.

Finally winning on the road. Let's go home and keep the streak alive.

I have workly things to attend to sadly. And more college papers to fill out.

I'm moving to Wisconsin on August 29th! And I already know one of my roomies is a Cubs fan, so all is not lost.

GO CUBS!

Long time, no see

Well it's been a while. Why do they have to make the college process so difficult? I just want to go to school but I have been up to my head in paper work and financial aid and what not. The only thing I've actually gotten to make time for is baseball because my Cubbies come first.

So we had an awesome first half. We were tied for the best record in baseball at the half and we had an awesome lead.

Congrats to Ryan Theriot and his wife for welcoming in baby number 3, Georgia Grace. And also congrats to Jim and Allison Edmonds. Hollywood got married! Yay!

The all-star game... -shakes head-. The National league needed that. The American league's streak is extended to 11 games. And Dan Uggla... -shakes head again-. I stayed up got all 15 innings. Waaaay to long.

So now we're back to regular season baseball.. and the Cubs have not been sparkling. We have won one out of four coming back from the break. NOT GOOD. These guys can't win games by scoring one run. Hopefully Lou's theory of no batting practice will work. They did that sunday and slaughtered Houston 9 - 0.

Poor Rich Harden. I don't think they properly welcomed him to the team... someone forgot to say, "Welcome to the end of your career." The guy comes over here, pitches AMAZING baseball but the Cubs can't seem to pull it off for him. Whether it's one guy or the entire offense... this guy can't catch a break. When we have one of our stars out on the mound, those are games we MUST win because we know we'll have the pitching needed to win a game.

Tonight the battle to win on the road continues as Marquis (who has been outstanding his last few outings) goes against Petit (0-1) on the mound. Hopefully Fukudome tweaked his approach to the game and got over his slump in his off day. Hopefully Theriot keeps hitting like he has been this season. Hopefully the 3 and 4 hitters start doing something instead of popping out and grounding into double plays and hopefully Marquis can keep up his streak of awesome outings.

Let's get out there and win a freaking game while St. Louis and Milwaukee beat the crap out of each other in what we hope is many extra inning games.

GO CUBS!

bring out the brooms

SWEEP.

SWEEP.

SWEEP.

Okay, got that out of my system.

It's nice to come back after being swept to sweep the crosstown rivals. I feel pretty confident about us playing them at the Cell. Let's go for the season sweep of the White Sox!!

Ozzie has the right not to like Wrigley Field but come on, uber rats? Ozzie needs to get his head out of his butt, stop making jokes and taking jabs and Wrigley and the Cubs and manage his team. And AJ thinks we're idiots? He was just swept by the Cubs... who's the idiot now? Ozzie doesn't like jim Edmonds? TOUGH. He's hitting over .300 since he came to the Cubs. I think he's a darn fine addition to the team (not to mention he hammered the Sox in game 2). Maybe they wouldn't have been swept if they all weren't so concerned with bringing out everything they hate about Wrigley, our team, and our fans. Get over yourselves White Sox and win a game.

The better Chicago team by far is the Cubs. They will take these insults you throw at them and shove it right back where the sun don't shine. =]

And with that said let's go out there and beat Baltimore!!

Tonight's match up is Sean Marshall (fresh out of the minors) against Guthrie (3-7).

I have work matters to attend to so good day and GO CUBS!

*sigh*

Riding on this winning high lately, it's kinda disappointing to get swept.

Yes, swept. *shakes head*

I was sad that we lost again last night but then I looked at previous seasons where we would lose 6 games and I thought to myself, "Losing 3 in a row and getting swept ONE time this season so far, isn't that bad."

So I didn't watch the game last night, my best friend wanted to go to six flags. Finally got to put the season pass to good use.

But I am dreading to hear the outsome of Z's MRI. Whatever is revealed today could truely hurt or help this team. If he's out then we're in trouble cause... well he's the ace.

And thank the lord that Reed Johnson and Jim Edmonds aren't seriously injured. Then we'd lose both center fielders and the left fielder. Then we'd be in big doo doo. But Reed will be ready and Edmonds has plantar fasciitis so he'll be back soon (I've treated many cases of PF during my years of training football).

But I sadly won't get to watch the first game of the cross town classic because my work doesn't get comcast sports net. So I'll be watching it via gameday.

The pitching match up is Ted Lilly (7-5) versus Danks (4-4).

Btw, Milwaukee is creeping back up the standings. They're only 5.5 out, we'll have to keep an eye on them.

UGH. I was supposed to go out with the kids today to play frisbee golf... the day I get to go out and it's RAINING. So I'm off to do staff like duties.

Good day and GO CUBS!!!

I had Tropicana for breakfast

So here we are again, sitting at work, bored out of my mind.

Let's start off by saying Happy belated birthday to Kerry Wood, who turned 31 on Monday, and Lester Strode, whose birthday was yesterday!

My buddy Brenton is really ganna hate me but Tampa's fans are really annoying. I don't think I've watched a Rays game recently but lemme tell you... their fans are super annoying. I almost wanted to mute it and listen to the radio. There was a ridiculously annoying drumming noise every time the pitcher got into a count to strike out the batter. EVERY TIME. Little things like that get to me. Then there was a man that was behind the plate that decided he wanted to start yelling franticly every time DeRosa came up to bat. His son, who I am assuming was the little Rays fan sitting next to him, was ashamed to be seen with him. It got a little irritating but he eventually gave up on it. And I think there were more Cubs fans there than Rays fans. Whenever they panned into the crowd I saw nothing but blue and red.

And the Trop is def awesome cause they actually have Rays in the outfield. Like there is just a pool where you can pet sting rays. How awesome is that?

And I'm not feeling Demp's beard thing he's got goin' on. It's going to take a bit to warm up to it.

But he pitched very well. Both pitchers did. But they got deep into the count with guys fouling everything off. Dempster had one bad pitch which Cliff Floyd took advantage off but other than that the pitching is the beginning of the game was great. Except for Kazmir having 100 pitches by the 5th.

And what an exciting play when the combo of Blanco and Theriot threw out Upton at 2nd. That was exhilarating.

Theriot had an RBI single and two pretty awesome catches. The running catch into the shallow outfield was spectacular.

Reed Johnson didn't have to wonderful of a game. He had a couple hits in the game but got caught stealing third with two outs in the 7th and his bunt play in the 9th didn't quite work out the way he wanted it.

The 9th was a pretty crazy inning. A few bad pitches gave the Cubs another run but sadly we couldn't get that last guy in to tie it. But you can't win them all.

So I have to go do work now but tonight's match up is our ace Zambrano (8-2) vs. Sonnanstine (7-3). Another good match up.

Good day and GO CUBS!

booooooooored at work

So I'm sitting around at work. I am terribly bored. We have a total of 3 kids inside the building and the rest of my co-workers took the others outside to play softball. I stayed inside so I could watch the hall of fame game, which ended up being cancelled. Poop.

I can't watch the U.S. Open playoff because the TVs at work don't get ESPN so I must sit around and wait for the computer to update the leaderboard every few minutes. I like Tiger and all but I'm rooting for Mediate.

So these past couple of games have been fantastic. They have played great ball against the Jays.

I'm hoping we will being the rain against the Rays these next three games. I'm sure they will and I'm looking forward to it.

And I was wondering, what is the appeal of getting drunk at a baseball game? Or any sporting event for that matter? I just don't understand why someone wants to go get smashed. I would like to remeber the game and not make a total jerk of myself. So please, explain to me if you can. why do people go to baseball games and go, "I'm going to get drunk!"?

Tomorrow's match up is Dempster (8-2 phenomenal) against Kazmir (6-2, not shabby at all).

Good day and GO CUBS!

Why I don't like some baseball fans

So I didn't get to watch the Cubs game, GASP, I know. And they lost so I can't say much about it. I'll be headed over to cubs.com to read about it in a second but I did want to blog about the Brewers and Twins game I went to tonight.

I was heading up there with my best friend to watch the Twins play the Brewers. I have a bright yellow cobolt with two giant Cubs stickers on the back windows. It was my first time ever driving on the highway so it was a big deal for me. I was really excited.

First we get lost trying to get there because every time I go to Milwaukee for something my exit is always closed but we got there for batting practice. There were a lot of Twins fans which was nice seeing as I was rooting for the Twins. And our seats were amazing, right behind home plate.. 16 rows up... freaking fantastic.

Then the Twins annihilated the Brewers. I got to see the babe, Joe Mauer. All was good cause I had an absolute blast. (Except for the drunk creeper behind my friend and I who kept hitting on us)

Then we get out to my car and lo and behold the low some Brewers fans would go to. On my front windshield  there were perfectly circular spots that had dripped and dried. At first we thought they spit on my car but one was so high that the person would have had to be on my car to do it.  So the mystery substance is still unknown and some of it didn't come off with my wipers.

LAME.

And then of course the drunk Brewers fans kept shouting out at my car when we were in line to leave. All I would yell back was, "Best team in baseball! Have a great night!"

They are lame. Now I'm not saying all of them cause I have some good friends who are part of the Brew Crew but puh-lease. Are you kidding me? Would you really put nasty stuff on my car?

I proudly wore my Cubs hat and my Twins shirt around the field. So those Brewers fans, and I shouldn't just say Brewers fans... it's to all those fans who would do stuff like that (even Cubs fans) who are so dumb they would vandalize someone else's car cause they don't like the other persons team... You are a disgrace to the game of baseball and you make me laugh. And I have a few other choice words for you.

(I don't intend to offend the very respectful fans... this goes out to all those fans who would do this c r a p)

And I'm done ranting. Yay!

I'm tired and must go to sleep. Goodnight and GO CUBS!

Nooooooo, no es bueno Alfonso!

Okay, I was going to wait until tomorrow to blog buuuuut I'm just so excited!

RYAN DEMPSTER WITH THE COMPLETE GAME WIN! WHAT A WIN!

Except with the loss of Alfonso Soriano =[  Losing him wasn't good. He was just heating up and just feeling great with his legs and BAM he's out 6 weeks. Being an athletic trainer for my school, as soon as I heard what they found in the x-ray I was like, "NOOOOOOOOO! FONS!"

But all hope is not lost because the Cubs are not a one-man team anymore. We have people who can fill his spot. I would love to see either Reed Johnson or Micah Hoffpauir in left and Riot in the lead off spot, unless Reed is in the game then have him lead off. I love Reed Johnson.. absolutely love him.

The guys played great tonight. Riot with 2 RBIs and Fu with a 3-R HR. Jimmy with 2 RBIs... I mean this is great baseball. Great stuff coming from the best team in baseball.

Must I even say who the player of the game is? RYAN DEMPSTER, hands down. He had a complete game win with 11 strikeouts... what else can you ask of your starting pitcher? He improves to 8-0 at home and 8-2 on the season (the same record as our ace, Z).

Tomorrow's match up is a great one. Probably one of the best you'll see in any game tomorrow. The Baby Bull (8-2) against Tim Hudson (7-4). Should be a great game. Let's keep the bats hot.

I have a headache so I'm off.

Goodnight and GO CUBS!

Too Much Good Stuff

So today started off on a bad note. I woke up seriously two minutes before I had to open my work to let the kids in. I set my alarm for the wrong time and everything. Poop in a basket.

I have noticed tons more Cubs blogs popping up as of late. That's a great thing. The team is really starting to get noticed or the fans are excited enough to want to blog about their team. I have been blogging for quite some time over at another website and finally discovered this one not too long ago.

So moving on to the game last night, I actually took the time to write down everything I wanted to bring up , because I most def wouldn't remember everything... esp after waiting until the next day to blog.

My first thing is that home plate ump, Doug Evans. There was no way Lilly was trying to intentionally hit their batter after he gave up that home run. Lilly is a composed guy and you just don't see that behavior from him. But mr. umpire went on a power trip and warned both benches, was a jerk to Lilly and then all smiles with Glavine? With that said, I hate umpires. All of them.

Ted Lilly. Top of the first... two strike outs and then a 3-R HR. But despite that he came back to strike out eight and keep control. He did wonderfully. So what if he gave up a three run homer? The offense came back to cancel out those runs (plus the two the braves will score later) and tack on some more.

Derrek Lee up to bat in the 3rd inning - just when I start to think, "What have you done for me lately?" he hits a solo shot. Go Lee.

And I was kinda surprised wehn Glavine left after only three innings. But he left due to and left elbow strain. That sucks for the braves... they'll lose another star player. He only threw 72 pitches and it didn't seem like anything was wrong but maybe I was missing something. He's old and probably should be retiring soon.

I was happy to see Soriano so aggressive on base. Stealing bases and even getting caught once. It was a good thing to see cause that means he is feeling better and feeling confident with his legs. Back to 100%. Woo hoo!

And Geovany Soto! He hit a 3-R HR because I blogged about him =]

Ooo and Chipper Jones came up in the 7th, I covered my eyes and said, "AHHHHH!" Mr. 420 up against your pitcher is a scary thing. Not something you want to see with two guys on base. But whatever, he got walked and we got them to waste one of their bench guys to pinch run for him.

Player of the Game goes to Mr. Too Much Good Stuff - Reed Johnson. I don't know why some people are still worrying about filling the center field position. As far as I'm concerned Reed Johnson is as good as any. The man hits for you when you need it and he plays stellar defense. He had 2 RBIs last night and two spectacular catches out in center.

And a Happy Belated Birthday to Mr. Mike Fontenot. Mikey turned 28 on Monday.

On a side note, I love listening to Billy Williams talk. He has probably the coolest accent ever and he has nothing but nice things to say about everyone. Great guy.

And I'm tired of the Cardinals. They need to lose. They have won three in a row and have kept up with us each step of the way. They're a good team and aren't going to go away. They are like that annoying wart on the bottom of your foot, you try to get rid of it but it keeps coming back. Grrrrr, haha.

Tonight's match up is Ryan Dempster (7-2) and Jeff Bennett (0-3). I'm quite confident we can pull it out and win again. 27-8 at Wrigley baby! Woo Hoo!

I'm off to play Ultimate Frisbee with the kids and actually do my job.

GO CUBS!
